Laughter – The healer

laughterOne important reason for good health is laughter. There are many “Laughter club” and” laughter yoga”. Simulated laughter, while maintaining eye contact with other members, eventually leads to real laughter. Some of the benefits of laughter yoga include improved lung capacity , enhanced flexibility, better memory and reduced stress. There is scientific evidence that laughter has medical benefits. It is found that laughter causes the endothelium-the inner lining of blood vessels-to dilate, thus increasing blood flow. The endothelium is the first line in the development of Atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries. Laughter could, therefore, reduce the risk of heart disease.
Laughing increases heart rate by 10 to 20% and burned about 1.3 cal a minute. It is only about 1/8 of what jogging does, but every calorie counts. Laugh heartily for 15 minutes a day for a year, and you could lose close to 2 kg, and that is not a joke.
